ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Sonia Denice De La Torre is the Founder of Chow-E- Chowz Expressions/ Kids Have A Voice, a Children’s Book Author and Motivational Speaker. She recently published a children’s book on safety entitled, “Saved by a Whistle.” She is a woman who loves God and is happily married to husband Benjamin De La Torre who travels with Sonia and shares her passion about the safety of children and teens. Sonia enjoys motivational speaking, writing, singing and made her debut in acting when she landed an important role in a short film produced by an independent filmmaker based in Denton, Texas. Sonia attended Lisa Maile professional Image, Modeling & Acting School where she received a Certificate in TV & Commercial Acting in Orlando, Florida. She attended Tulsa Junior College and the University Of Toledo to study Oral communications & Creative Writing.
Community Work
Sonia was invited to hold a Child Safety Awareness Seminar at the Downtown Dallas Library teaching Adult’s and kid’s about the importance of child safety which was successful. Sonia has been invited to speak at block watch meetings, Head Start and Elementary Schools, Churches, PTA Groups and various organizations educating teachers, parents and kids on how Child Safety Awareness & Bullying. Sonia feels we all have a responsibility to educate our children on ways to protect themselves from people seeking to harm them. “You don't have to be a parent to help save a child's life,” Sonia's states. “You just need to be available because when you save a child you save our future,”she adds. I may not be a famous Movie Star or a Best Seller Author but, who I am is a concerned citizen who cares about the safety of children.
Seminar Information
Every day the news media report tragic story after tragic story about the abductions, abuse, and murder of children. These heinous crimes deserve our highest priority. My husband, Ben De La Torre, and I have dedicated our lives to conducting a Child Safety Awareness campaign in preschools, elementary schools and among parent and teacher organizations. I have written a book on child safety entitled “Saved by a Whistle” which parents, grandparents and educators are reading to children to educate them on ways to identify and protect themselves from people who seek to harm them and take them away from the people they love. I also conduct informative power point presentations throughout the city of Dallas on child safety and bullying and various topics that includes educational videos and valuable information to groups and organizations.
